Aftershock Festival: Guns N' Roses, Queens of the Stone Age & Rancid - Sunday at Discovery Park

Guns N’ Roses was responsible for the biggest rock reunion in the last decade. Band members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan had a long-standing feud that lasted for twenty years. When Rose was interviewed about a possible reunion in 2012, he replied, “Not in this lifetime.” Hence, when the band announced the reunion of the original members, the tour was aptly named Not In This Lifetime Tour. The reunion tour, which grossed over half a billion dollars, was recorded as the band’s most financially successful run and fourth highest-grossing tour of all time. The band performed 175 shows that year, making it the longest run in their career.

Last year, Slash mentioned to the media that Guns N’ Roses was working on new music. They also released a remastered version of their 1991 effort, Use Your Illusion. This 2023, the band is set to continue their We’re F’N’ Back! Tour, which will head to Europe and North America this summer.

Seattle-born quintet, Queens of the Stone Age, is set to release their latest album, In Times New Roman, this summer. The record is preceded by its lead single, “Emotional Sickness,” which made waves upon its drop during spring. The highly-anticipated record follows the band’s series of successful studio releases. In 2013, their sixth studio effort, …like Clockwork, topped the six Billboard charts, including the Billboard 200. Besides successfully releasing the record in the U.S., the band entered the charts in 20 other countries.

In 2017, the band released their follow-up effort, Villains. The album spawned two hit singles, “The Way You Used to Do” and “The Evil Has Landed,” both charting impressively on the Hot Rock and Alternative Songs. The album topped Billboard’s Rock and Alternative charts and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200. Villains also entered the charts in 22 other countries, including Canada, Australia, and the U.K.

The longtime purveyors of American punk rock Rancid have been at this game since 1991. The band comprises original members Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, longtime guitarist Lars Frederiksen, and drummer Branden Steineckert. Over the years, the band has belted out numerous punk staples, such as “Time Bomb,” “Fall Back Down,” “Ruby Soho,” “Maxwell Murder,” and more. This summer, the band is set to release their new album, Tomorrow Never Comes. The record has already been preceded by lead singles, the title track, and “Don’t Make Me Do It.”

Catch these hard-hitting headliners on Sunday, 8th October 2023, at the Discovery Park for the Aftershock Festival Day 4!
